The essential argumentative connector kit

One table, grouped by function — addition, opposition, cause, consequence, concession — with a model sentence for each.

IntermediateScoreRoute9 min

Connectors are what turn a list of sentences into an argument, and cohesion is an explicit scoring criterion in both TEF and TCF. You do not need dozens: you need a reliable one or two per logical function that you can deploy without hesitation. This lesson gives you that minimal, high-value kit organized by what each connector does.

The kit, grouped by function

Logical function, connectors, and a model sentence

FunctionConnectorsModel sentence
Cycling is cheap and green. Moreover, it improves health. That is why many cities encourage it.

Cause vs consequence: don't confuse the direction

A cause connector points backward to the reason (« il est fatigué parce qu'il a mal dormi »); a consequence connector points forward to the result (« il a mal dormi, donc il est fatigué »). Deciding which idea is the reason and which is the result before you pick the connector prevents the most common logical slip.

Since you already know the file, I'll get straight to the point.

Apply it: write a five-sentence argument that uses one connector from each of the five functions above, then submit it for scoring to confirm your logic reads clearly.
