Forvo is a free online dictionary where native speakers record how words are actually said. Instead of guessing pronunciation from spelling, you hear a real French speaker say the exact word — often in several accents, including Canadian French. For TEF/TCF candidates it turns your personal list of mispronounced words into an audio study tool.
How to use it during prep
- Take your own error list (words a tutor or the app flagged) and search each one to hear the correct sounds and stress.
- When several recordings exist, filter or scan for Canadian speakers to match the accent you'll meet in TEF Canada / TCF Canada.
- Check tricky nasals, liaisons, and place names (« Montréal », « Trois-Rivières ») you might have to say aloud.
